Deciding To Change Is Easier Said Than Done
Deciding to change how we live is easier to do in our minds than it is to do in every day life. My intentions to change and live more like Jesus were real, but how could I live like he did. I needed a pattern to follow. The Gospels provide a pattern to live like Jesus. He interacted with people from many different backgrounds. He spent time with fishermen, tax collectors, businessmen, priest, and those who were unable to work. He talked with both men and women. He was not a respecter of persons. When he met with someone they received his full attention. Something I am working to do better. Give those I meet my full attention. I want to take time to listen and hear what they are saying and to find common ground to build a relationship. Jesus example with Zacchaeus the Chief Tax collector is one to follow. Not only did Jesus recognize a man most would want to avoid like the plague, but he invited himself to go to his home to stay. Imagine meeting the head of the Internal Revenue and telling him you wanted to spend some one-on-one time with him. Today may be the beginning of my 3 months and 2 days left to live if that is true I want to know how to create the atmosphere so I can lead all those I meet to a closer relationship with Jesus.
