Negotiating a better deal

You can almost always find a better deal. Remember that retail prices are marked up many times the cost of an item. There is no product available for purchase that cannot be negotiated.

There are two keys to negotiating: Find the person with the authority to sign off on a price reduction and be willing to ask for it.

You actually begin with the first key. Just ask. When you are told no then ask again. Ask the person if they can go to their boss so it will become the responsibility of their boss to answer your request. Never accept no the first time.

Remember there is a lot of latitude in the price of an item and managers especially will often be wiling to help you find the best price if you are nice to them.
