A lot of companies call their employees “associates” as a way trying to sound like they treat them more like family than like ordinary workers. But titles mean little if not backed up with policies and activities.
In our companies we practiced frequent open houses where our associates could bring their families. Sometimes We made a point to make a list of productive ways the associate contributed to the company and share this with those who attend.
