You Don’t Look Like A Collector!
Having traveled 4 million miles on American Airlines over the past 19 years, I am asked many times by my seat-mate what do you do for a living. I tell them I am a “bill collector”. On one occasion, a lady looked me up and down and said well you don’t look like a bill collector. Yeah, I know. I replied I have been sick lately. I’m not sure what she was expecting a bill collector to look like, but I was not living up to her expectations. At 5’8 160 pounds, I guess she did not see me a being much of an enforcer. Collectors come in all sizes and shapes, different ethnic backgrounds, and from high school GED’s to PHD’s. I have found that it is more your attitude than your appearance that determines your ability to collect past-due accounts. In my book The Debt, you will learn how to develop a positive attitude about contacting past-due customers and successfully collecting the monies they owe.
